A conundrum? Or The Riddle of the Ole Hoary Catch...

The sign at the western end of the building has often been subjected to the effects of strong winds - resulting in the loss of one or several of its letters, and some rather amusing results - such as: THE -OY-L CO-C-

It was decided that this fact should be echoed when the sign was refurbished - after a considerable amount of head scratching, OLE HOARY CATCH was created from the letters originally used to spell THE ROYAL COACH
